Srinagar:  Describing the lynching of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Security wing) as a murder of trust, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said the officer had allowed his guards to go home. Ms Mufti, along with a number of her Cabinet colleagues, including Naeem Akhtar and Abdul Haq Khan, paid glowing tributes to Ayub Pandith, during a wreath laying ceremony held here. The Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior civil, police and security force officials also paid tributes to the police officer. The Chief Minister said the lynching of the police officer outside Jamia Masjid late last night was actually a murder of trust. 'He had allowed his guards to go home, since he was feeling secure,' she said. She said Jammu and Kashmir has one of the finest police forces in the country, who exercise maximum restraint while dealing with the law and order situation. Pandith was beaten to death by a mob outside the historic Jamia Masjid in the downtown, late last night. Police has arrested two persons and identified the third involved in the murder of the officer.
