Is it fair for a man to say talaaq thrice over the phone and ruin a Muslim woman: PM

Mahoba :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lashed out critics of triple talaq who were imbuing it with political or Hindu-Muslim nuances. "Is it fair for a man to say "talaaq" thrice over the phone and a Muslim woman's life get ruined?" he questioned. Addressing a public rally here, Mr Modi said please don’t make triple talaaq a political matter. Let’s take proper measures to give equal rights to women as well. It is not a matter of Hindu or Muslim, he said. Mr Modi said, "I am surprised that for votes, some parties want to keep Muslim women bereft of their fundamental rights. "I request people who participate in TV debates, don't make women rights into Muslim-Hindu orientation; it is a developmental issue. "The debate should be between Muslims experts who want reforms and those who do not. ' It is the responsibility of government and people of the country to give justice to Muslim women under Constitution," he affirmed. Mr Modi said there should be a transparent debate to clearly identify the proponents and supporters of triple talaq. The National Democratic Alliance dispensation, the Prime Minister added, would be extremely stern on female foeticide. 'Anyone killing a girl child before birth would go to jail.' The government's Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao initiative was yielding good results. 'We are also committed to fill the gender gap of too," Mr Modi added.
