Irked BJP registers police complaint for FIRs against UP CM, state officials

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh BJP today submitted an application to the Lucknow police for registering of counter FIRs against Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and state officials for trying to crush a peaceful demonstration by the party through illegal means. "The entire conspiracy to crush the BJP agitation and kill some of our senior leaders was hatched by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. In the police atrocities, more than 1000 BJP leaders and workers were injured, 100 of them critically. They were admitted to hospital," alleged UP BJP president and MP Keshav Prasad Maurya here. He said the two-page police complaint was given by Dalit state vice-president and former MLC Ramnaresh Rawat , who himself was injured yesterday and was getting treatment in the hospital. "UP has turned totally into a 'Andher Nagri, Chaupat Raja' where criminals are roaming free and action was taken against political activists who have democratic rights to agitate in a peaceful manner," said the BJP state president. Mr Maurya announced that if police fails to lodge an FIR against the CM and other state officials then the BJP will go to the people's court. He also said the matter would also be raised in Parliament on the privilege of MPs, who were detained yesterday.

"The police atrocities yesterday could have taken the life of our MP from Mishrik Anju Bala," he disclosed while announcing that the BJP would be afraid of such atrocities and would continue to agitate till this government was dislodged. In the complaint given to Hazratganj police this morning, BJP leader Rawat alleged that the police officials abused him for being a Dalit and said Inspector Hazratganj Vijaymal Yadav instigated policemen against the their workers by announcing that the DGP has asked them to crush the demonstration on the directives of the Chief Minister. "Yesterday, the Akhilesh Yadav government deployed a large number of policemen around the BJP office as if they are at war against the party. If the state government was really serious then it should deploy police to control crimes, then the state would not have to ashamed of the image of UP outside," Mr Maurya, the Lok Sabha member from Phulpur, commented. He also blamed the SP government for the harassment of the people during yesterday's demonstration, saying that the barricading in front of the BJP office was the main reason for the jam. He also said BJP workers did not throw stones on the police.

The BJP president , who was slated to go to Allahabad today, has postponed his visit and warned the SP government to withdraw all the fake cases registered against the BJP leader and workers, otherwise the party would hold massive agitation statewide. In another lapse by the Lucknow police, the 3,028 people named in the FIR, include 3000 unidentified and the two senior leaders Sunil Bansal and Vijay Bahadur Pathak( both state general secretaries), who were out of Lucknow. While, Bansal was in New Delhi, Pathak was in Mumbai and was holding a press conference there when the clash took place here. BJP MLA from Lucknow( East) Ashutosh Tandon was also agitating inside the assembly yesterday but his name was in the FIR. Lucknow police last night registered FIR against BJP leaders including 11 MPs and some legislators under section 147, 341, 188, 332, 336, 353, 504, 506, 307, 308 of the IPC and section 3/4 of the Public Properties Destruction Act.

The complaint was registered by Darushafa chowki in-charge Sanjay Kumar Gupta. BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak in a statement from Mumbai alleged that the act of the Samajwadi Party government clearly shows that they tried to crush the voice of the people. " Lodging of cases against the leaders who were not in Lucknow besides registering FIRs under section 307( attempt to murder charges) proves that the SP government was conspiring to lodge fake cases against the Opposition leaders," he alleged. Giving an example of how the innocent people were framed by UP police in the Bulandshahr gangrape incidents, he said similarly now the state police, on the directives of the government was making fake charges against politicians. Mr Pathak also alleged that on one hand when there was one rape in every six hours and one case of woman atrocity every three hours in the state during the past five months of the current fiscal as per the state government disclosure in the assembly yesterday, the SP government was denying the CAG reports, which said there was 61 per cent rise of crime against women in this regime.
