Indore: Team India was on 75/2 against New Zealand at lunch on day 1 of the third test at the Holkar stadium here today.
After a good start, the hosts received an early blow in the fifth over when off-spinner Jeetan Patel dismissed opener Murli Vijay on individual score of 10 runs.
Comeback man Gautam Gambhir then tried to anchor the Indian innings with Cheteshwar Pujara and the opener scored his first 24 runs with the help of three boundaries and two sixes.
However, pacer Trent boult striked in the 19th over to dismiss a good looking Gambhir (29) and India was left at 60/2.
Incoming batsman Virat Kohli then joined Pujara, who is unbeaten at 29 with four boundaries.
Skipper Kohli was unbeaten on 7.
India will now be eyeing for a solid partnership in the remaining sessions of the day without losing any more wickets to put a huge total on board.
India earlier won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final test here this morning.
