India lose to Australia 1-3 in Champions trophy final

London : Indian hockey team settled for the silver medal after going down mighty Australia 1-3 through penalty shoot-out in the Champions Trophy here tonight. India started off the proceeding perfectly and displayed some good defensive skills but could not managed to find the net in the 60 minutes of regulation play.
As a result, the summit clash went to penalty shoot-outs where reigning World champions Australia edged past India to lift their 14th Champions trophy title. In the penalty shoot out, Harmanpreet Singh was the lone scorer for India, while for Australia, Aran Zalewski, Daniel Beale, Simon Orchard managed to find the net. Despite losing, India gave its best performance in the history of the tournament.
Earlier, the previous was a bronze medal in 1982.
