IMD forecasts more rains for Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, Nov 27 - Rain-ravaged Tamil Nadu will have no relief for another week and the next three days will be very critical, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

Addressing a press conference here, IMD Director General LS Rathore said that moderate to heavy rainfalls are expected in coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, southern Andhra Pradesh districts of Nellore and Chittoor, Rayalseema and interior districts of Tamil Nadu.

He said, though there will be some let up in the rains after three days and rainy conditions will last for another week.

Chennai, where the flooding has reached a critical level, had so far received 89 per cent more rains than the normal, while Vellore has received 139 per cent above normal rains, Mr Rathore said.
