IIT-Roorkee takes back expelled students with riders

roorkeeRoorkee, Aug 3 - The IIT Roorkee senate, after deliberations held today, decided to take back, albeit with some conditions, 70-odd ‘’under-performer’’ students thrown out of the IIT last month. The decision has come as a great relief for the students, most of whom Belong to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste. The expelled students had even approached the High Court twice for seeking relief but lost the case. They have since been on protest at IIT-R, supported by some other students. Recently, Member of Parliament from North-West Delhi, Dr Udit Raj, who is also All India SC-ST Organisation Chairman took up their case in Parliament. After a special meeting of institute’s senate today, they were informed that they can take admission till August 10 but with some conditions, sources said.
