IAF Chief mulls shifting of Victim Dadri Air Man's family

Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Arup Raha today condemned the lynching of an Air Man's father Mohammed Ikhlaq on suspicion of consuming beef in Dadri and said he would contemplate shifting the affected family to Air Force area.

Air Chief Marshal Raha also said he would soon meet family members of the deceased whose son Sartaz, is a serving Engineer in the Indian Air Force. Expressing his gratitude over Air Chief's remarks, told Airman Sartaj, "I am very happy that our chief will meet us personally. It would be a very kind gesture. Air Force treats its personnel like a family".

The Air Chief, answering questions relating to the incident of lynching, in a press conference here said "It was really an unfortunate incident. Senior officers are in constant touch with the Air warrior (victim's son who is in IAF). I also will see to it that the affected family of the Air Man is shifted to a more protected area like the Air Force station."

When asked about writing to the concerned government authorities, which is UP government in the present case, for immediate assistance to the victim's family, he said, "Whenever we have such problems with our staff, we remain in touch with the authorities and the local air force. The welfare of serving personnel and their families is our top priority. An adequate action has already been taken in this matter, so no need to write further to the concerned state and central authorities."
