Haryana's minister Anil Vij hails Modi's decision of accepting OROP

Ambala - Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij hailed the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepting the demand of 'One Rank One Pension' of the retired Army personnel.

He said, "Mr Modi had already promised to accept the demand during the Lok Sabha election meetings."

He said, "the demand which was pending for the last 42 years was accepted by the Central government today."

He pointed out that the OROP scheme was already in vogue till it was discontinued in the year 1973 by the then government and kept it in abeyance for more than four decades. He said the rulers in the previous government never wanted to give relief to the retired Army pensioners. "Now their demand had been accepted by fulfilling the promise made to them," he added.

Meanwhile, The Haryana State Minister Naib Singh Saini with local MLA Aseem Goel went to the camp of agitating retired Army men who had been on the chain fast for the last 79 days and appealed them to call off their agitation since their demand had been accepted by the government. The fasting pensioners were offered juice to break their fast. Naib Singh said "the decision made by the Modi government was historical which had removed the years long grievances of the Army retirees who welcomed the decision."
