Lucknow Fast Track court today announced 10 years imprisonment to prime accused Gaurav Shukla in the Ashiana gangrape case, in which four youth kidnapped the girl and burnt her with cigarette butts around 11 years ago. The four youth reportedly kidnapped the girl from Ashiana locality when she was on way to her home. Later two accused also joined them. All six raped her in a car. Additional District Judge (ADJ) Anil Kumar Shukla had held Gaurav guilty on April 13.
The fast track court, which was slated to deliver its judgement a couple of months ago, had stopped in the last moment after Shukla moved the Allahabad High Court on the decision of the court to declare him adult at the time of crime. However, the family members of the victim were not satisfied with the quantum of punishment, and they said that they will move the higher court demanding a life term for the prime accused. The father of the victim said that they were certainly depressed over the quantum of the punishment. Similarly the counsel of the accused Gaurav too said that their client is innocent and hence they will too move the higher court for his exoneration.
