Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today, after paying tributes to sitting Samajwadi Party MLA Mohammad Irfan who was killed in a road accident in March. Tomorrow, the Akhilesh Yadav government will table the supplementary budget to the tune of around Rs 25,000 crore after the Question Hour which will be approved on Wednesday. On the opening day of the monsoon session, the House expressed condolence on the death of Irfan from Bilari seat in Moradabad district, who passed away on March 10. The deceased's son Mohammad Faeem was elected in the bypolls held after his death from the seat. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav expressed his condolence and he was joined by the leaders of other political groups.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan too expressed his grief and described the late leader as a 'God fearing' person who always helped others. While the Chief Minister called Irfan a popular leader of Moradabad area, leader of the opposition Gaya Charan Dinker said that the deeds of the SP MLA would be remembered forever. BJP leader Suresh Kumar Khanna said that had he been alive, Irfan would have celebrated the 65th birthday today. Congress leader Pradip Mathur and RLD leader Dalveer Singh also joined others in expressing their condolences. Later, speaker Mata Prasad Pandey read out the condolence message on behalf of the entire House and the members observed a two-minute silence for the departed soul. The House was then adjourned for the day. During the brief session, the House is expected to approved the GST constitution amendment Bill on August 24.
