Lucknow - After a delay, Lucknow Police has registered an FIR against Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on the orders of a local court for threatening suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on the phone.
The FIR has been registered under Section 506 of IPC against Mr Yadav for threatening Thakur on July 10 in compliance of the order passed on September 14 by the CJM Lucknow Som Prabha Mishra to register an FIR under the appropriate sections.
According to police sources, Inspector Hazratganj, on September 30, had informed the court that the FIR had already been registered on September 24.
Earlier, Thakur sat on dharna today at Hazratganj Thana, demanding lodging of the FIR against Mr Yadav while his activist wife Dr Nutan Thakur was informed about the FIR.
Yesterday, the UP government had assured the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High court comprising Chief Justice Dr. D Y Chandrachud and Justice S N Shukla, that if the FIR has not been registered so far, it would be registered forthwith.
