Eyeing 2017 UP assembly polls, BSP to hold cadre camps

ma6Lucknow, Aug 25-The Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) has planned to organise special cadre camp in all 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh to assess and elevate the mood of party workers who have been demoralised by party's repeated electoral reverses. BSP state president Ram Achal Rajbhar said the camps have already been started in some constituencies. BSP sources said the camps also aim to bring Ms Mayawati's aides in direct touch with the district coordinators as well as sector and booth level workers. A senior BSP leader said the district coordinators have been asked to ensure attendance of at least 500 workers in each camp. The workers would be briefed on party's strategy to spread its roots amongst the voters. At the same time, members of the Bahujan Voluntary Force (BVF) and BAMCEF - said to be eyes and ears of Ms Mayawati -- too have been told to attend the camps. Sources said the BSP plans to implement party's founder Kanshi Ram's method of 'cadrisation', with renewed vigour. "The cadres will be asked to spread information amongst Dalits about Kanshi Ram's efforts to empower the lower castes through right to vote," said a senior leader. The cadres are also likely to be told to tighten their grip on Ambedkar legacy which is now being claimed by the Congress and the BJP.
