Panaji : The three-day Goa state film festival will commence from August 5. Addressing a press conference here yesterday, 8th Goa Film Festival Committee convenor Shushant Khedekar said the festival will showcase Goan regional movies, including Konkani and Marathi. "It's a premier event conducted by Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) once in two years. It gives artists, producers and directors an opportunity to showcase and orchestrate their professional excellence in the field of cinema.
ESG, being the nodal body in conducting entertainment programmes, gives a platform to nurture talent in their field of entertainment and help them get recognised in their field of expetise," he said.
Altogether 12 films will be screened during the festival. Out of them, nine would be in Konkani, two in Marathi and a non-feature film. The opening film will be Konkani film NAcho-is-Kumpassar. The other films to be screened were 'Home Sweet Home', 'Home Sweet Home 2', 'Enemy?', 'Hanv Tum Tum Hanv', 'Break-Up', 'MMS', 'Rose Tum' and 'Nirmon' (All Konkani), 'Guru Poornima-Ek Lovable Ghost' and 'Prem' at First Sight (Marathi) and Non-feature film The Guest.
