Collectors should be more connected to people : CM

Jaipur, Jul 22 - Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today urged collectors to be more sensitive towards the people centric issues and problems of people should be resolved at local level so that people would not have to come to the capital. Ms Raje was addressing the inaugural session of the Collector-SP conference at CMO. She said apart from the meetings, collectors should go among people so that they could get feedback. The Chief Minister said collectors should prepare future development plan keeping in view the necessity, public expectations and circumstances of the district. She said wide stretches of encroachment on industrial land should be cleared and collectors should ensure removal of encroachment on industrial land apart from making bank of industrial land in the district concerned. Ms Raje said to complete the target of making the state free from open defecation till year 2018, there should be effective monitoring of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Our cities should be free from garbage, posters and free from sewerage problem. She said other cities should learn from Udaipur as how the city has been made clean by involving people of the city. Cleanliness and security makes first impression on tourists, she said. The Chief Minister said collectors should keep special focus on electricity theft. District administration must participate actively in Electrification Camps and Bijlee Choupals starting statewide from 16 August. She said DISCOMS in state have Rs 80,000 crore as debt. Ms Raje directed collectors to monitor all works under 'Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' for quality and timely execution. She said identified villages under 'Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' and Mukhyamantri Adarsh Gram Panchayat Yojana should be prepared as a blue print for development. She asked collectors to constitute District Executive Committees to oversee the progress of government schools in their district. She also directed to bring pace in toilet construction in schools and arrangement of buildings for the schools that are running without building. Ms Raje directed collectors that compensation should be given to farmers affected by hailstorm in the affected districts. She asked collectors to keep in view cleanliness and hygiene in the district hospitals.
