Puducherry: Stating that the nomination of three BJP activists to the territorial assembly is a “Murder of Democracy” committed by the Union government, AIADMK(Amma) Legislature party leader A Anbazhagan said Chief Minister V Narayanasamy is responsible for the present political crisis here. Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Anbazhagan said that the Omissions and Commissions of the Chief Minister have precipitated the present situation. Stating that the elected government was deprived of its rights, he demanded that the Union Territory Act of 1963 be amended at the earliest to suit the present political situation and said that the 50 year old act is misinterpreted by the Lt.Governor to assert her power. Mr Anbazhagan said at the time of enactment of the Act, law makers expected all the concerned to exhibit political maturity and a respect for conventions. As such high values are no more upheld by those in power, the Act require amendment, he said. The AIADMK leader alleged that Mr Narayanasamy was aware of the nomination when Home Minister Rajnath Singh informed him at New Delhi that he had signed the file pertaining to the nomination of the members. He then presented the Home Minister with a shawl and returned to Puducherry, Mr Anbazhagan said the Chief Minister is now enacting a drama. Terming the July 8 bandh as “unwanted”, M .Anbazhagan said that though his party is not joining the bandh it will not oppose it either. Mr Anbazhagan said that there is no security for ruling party legislators in this regime and pointed out the wife of Congress legislator Dhanvelu approaching the Lt.Governor seeking security for her family. Already another woman legislator was attacked and she has been provided two armed personnel as security. During the previous N R Congress regime, there was no criminal activities. But now the police joining hands with criminals are indulging in all sorts of crimes, he alleged. He demanded that the beach restoration project should be stopped forthwith as fishermen villages are getting affected. An expert opinion should be sought before proceeding with the work, he said, adding that the setting up of the Groins had resulting in the intrusion of sea water into fishermen villages.
