Chilly air increases cold in UP

Chilled air freezing from the snow-clad mountains of the north has resulted in increasing the cold weather conditions in the plains of Uttar Pradesh during the past 24 hours. With Kanpur remaining the coldest region for the second consecutive after witnessing the minimum temperature of 2.7 degrees Celsius, which was 5 notches below par, the weather department has predicted for dense fog amid two days of dry weather conditions.

The fog had already thrown the life out of gear in Uttar Pradesh as both inbound and outbound flights were delayed and maximum trains running on all major routes were delayed by two to six hours. However, sun appearing in full swing has given a huge respite from the cold during the day time and a good score of people basking in the sun at their rooftops and community parks were also seen. The district authorities of few districts have ordered for changing the school timings in the view of increasing cold. The temperature figure during the past 24 hours were like 5.5 notches in Lucknow, 5.6 notches in Banda, 6.5 notches in Gorakhpur, 7 notches in Aligarh, 8.1 notches in Aligarh and 8 notches in Bahraich. Meanwhile, the Met department here has predicted that weather will remain dry and cool in the coming 48 hours which may be followed with fog to dense fog.
