New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, family member and others in connection with alleged irregularities in tender process of two hotels of Railways and conducted searches at 12 locations, including Bihar and Delhi. "On July 5, a case was registered against the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Sarala Gupta, wife of Prem Chand Gupta (RJD leader), Vijay and Vinay Kocchar, both directors of Sujata Hotels Private Ltd, Delight Marketing Company Pvt Ltd, Lara Projects LLP and PK Goel, former Managing Director of IRCTC under section 120-B, r/w 420 IPC and Section 13 (2), r/w Section 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act after a preliminary inquiry was conducted on a complaint regarding alleged irregularities in the tender process of two hotels of Railways," Additional Director of CBI Rakesh Asthana told reporters here. He said it was alleged that between 2004 and 14, a conspiracy was hatched in pursuance with the BNR hotels of Indian Railways located at Puri and Ranchi, which were first transferred to the IRCTC and later on for its operational management was given on lease to a private firm Sujata Hotels Private Ltd. Mr Asthana said that it was alleged that the tender process was rigged and manipulated and the condition were favoured to this company. In return, three acres land in western Patna was given to Delight Marketing Company Pvt Ltd, which is known to the family of Mr Yadav was given at a very low cost. Subsequently, between the period of 2010 and 14, this land was transferred to another company named Ms Lara Projects Pvt Ltd, which is owned by family of Yadav. This transfer also took place at thrown away price. Searches were being conducted at 12 locations in Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi and Gurugram in connection with matter, the official said.
