Police promoting Gulabi gang in Naxal affected Mirzapur area

Mirzapur: To counter social evils and to aware the public in Naxal affected Mirzapur area, Uttar Pradesh police is promoting women gang like Bundelkhand's Gulabi gang. Superintendent of Police Ashish Tewari said here today police has started a unique experiment in Naxal affected area. Police is promoting women's Gulabi gang like it was active in Bundelkhand. Members of Gulabi gang will lead awareness programme against social evils and blind faiths of society. There are Naxal affected 107 villages in Mirzapur and police is promoting Gulabi gang in these villages. Mr Tewari said that every Gulabi gang will have at least 10 women members initially. Also, the members of Gulabi gang here will get training from local police. He was sure that changes will be surfaced after the initiative. The SP said that women of Gulabi gang will be directly connected to the police with social media app Whatsapp and phone. He said these members of the gang will also work as informer for police. Government can provide some funds for these gangs which will help them to be self-dependent.
