Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari has directed to ensure strict action against the illegal hoarders of onion. He said it is the responsibility of the officials of the concerned departments to make onion available to general public at a reasonable and minimum price. Keeping in view the demand of onion in the state, he directed to import onion from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Chief Secretary was presiding over a meeting to provide onion at reasonable and minimum price with the principal secretary, horticulture and food processing, food commissioner and director mandi along with other concerned officers here in his office in Lok Bhawan.
In this row, he directed the Principal Secretary of Horticulture Department to daily convene a meeting with the concerned officials in order to provide onion to the citizen at minimum cost and he should have to intimate the day to day progress to the Chief Secretary at 6 PM daily.
Principal Secretary Horticulture, Sudhir Garg, Food Commissioner Manish Chauhan, Director Mandi along with other concerned officials were present during the meeting.
