Start-up help farmers in sowing seed production

Mysuru, When tomato farmers in Karnataka were facing crisis owing to a collapse in the market price for their produce and middlemen making their lives more difficult, young Lokesh in backward Kollegal taluk came up with a novel idea. The youth is one of the few farmers engaged in tomato seed production who had networked with a company which had a buyback agreement to ensure that its members were assured of a market with a pre-determined price for their produce. The unique concept was launched four years ago by Mysuru-based startup Sahaja Seeds to ensure seed sovereignty of farmers freed them from being dependent on seeds produced and supplied by multinational companies which had a monopoly on the supply.
