Wang-Huang win mixed doubles title at BWF Fuzhou China Open

Fuzhou, China: (Xinhua) Chinese shuttlers Wang Yi Lyu and Huang Dongping claimed the mixed doubles title at BWF Fuzhou China Open, beating compatriots world No. 1 Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong 21-14, 21-13 here on Sunday. The final between the two Chinese duos is a repeat of last year, when they evolved into a three-game tussle before Zheng/Huang lifted the trophy. However, the final on Sunday saw a complete different scenario. Zheng/Huang, who clinched 10 wins in their 11 head-to-head meetings, couldn't find their best form throughout the match as their fellows took straight games in 31 minutes. "We made many turnovers and didn't execute our tactics well. We lost the match too fast," said Zheng.

"Our opponents had better returns from backcourt." The top-ranked pair who had dominated most of the events this year, winning six titles including the World Championships, China Open and All England Open, lost rhythm in their last three World Tour tournaments and couldn't stand atop the podium in France, Denmark and the current Fuzhou China Open. Newly-crowned champions Wang/Huang owed their victory to quick heating up in the opening minutes. "We played better in the first game comparing to last year," noted Huang Dongping, who suffered cold during the whole tournament. "Being sick can't be an excuse for not playing well, therefore I worked harder when I felt uncomfortable," she added.
