Dhawan ton helps men in blue post 352 runs against Australia

London, An excellent Knock by Shikhar Dhawan 117 runs off 108 balls and Virat Kohli 82 runs off 77 balls powered India to post a challenging total of 352 runs here at Kennington Oval on Sunday. In this match, Rohit and Dhawan equalled Australia's Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden's record to make the most hundred partnerships in ICC tournaments. After opting to bat first, Dhawan and Sharma took the attack to the reigning champions' bowlers after a cautious start against the Australia new-ball pair of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Then the duo then gave a flying start, as India reached 190 for one in 33 overs. The duo added 127 runs for the first wicket. India's first wicket fell in 22.3 over when Rohit was caught by Alex Carey on Nathan Coulter's ball. However, Rohit dismissal didn't affect India as the Indian skipper joined him and both Dhawan and Kohli maintained the pace and almost score runs from each and every corners of the park.

The duo stitched a 93-run-partnership and took India to 220 runs on board before men in blue suffered a second loss. Dhawan after sensational knock of 117 runs walked to the pavilion as he was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the 37th over. His innings included 16 fours. Hardik Pandya too performed with bat and scored 48 runs off 26 balls before falling to Pat Cummins in 45.5 over. Both Hardik and Kohli added 81 runs in their teams total. Later, Virat took the charge and thrashed Australian bowlers. Virat with MS Dhoni added 37 runs but in the last over. Marcus Stoinis struck again dismissed both the batsmen in the last over, but they job was already done by them as they post a massive total of 352 runs in their stipulated 50 overs. Kl Rahul remained unbeaten for 11 runs. For Australia, Marcus Stoinis took two wickets, while Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Coulter-Nile took one wicket each.
