Bhubaneswar, Lakhs of devotees on Wednesday thronged various Shiva temples across Odisha early morning of Wednesday to offer prayer to Lord Shiva on the Mahashiva Ratri ,considered as most auspicious day
Police forces were deployed at important Shiva temples such as Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, Loknath temple in Puri, Dhabaleswar peetha in Cuttack, Kapilas temple in Dhenkanal,Akhandalmani temple in Bhadrak ,Panchalingaswar temple in Balasore,Vedvyas temple in Rourkela and Gupteswar temple in Koraput for conducting smooth darshan
Long queues of devotees were seen since early this morning in front of the Shaiva Pithas across the state to worship the Lord Shiva and and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
All the Shiva temples were decorated and illuminated on the occasion while in some places bhajan programmes were organized on the occasion.
Elaborate security arrangement was also made in all the Shiva temple and barricades were erected to facilitate a hassle free darshan of Lord shiva and to prevent any untoward incident.
As many as 25 platoons of security personnel were deployed in and around the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar.
As per the tradition, the devotees who observing fast will sit inside the temple complex and light their lamps till the lamp of the temple known as Mahadipa is lifted to the top of the temple at around midnight tonight.
