Petrol bomb hurled at police station in the city

Chennai: In a shocking incident, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a police station in the city in the early hours of today. Police sources said the miscreants, who were said to have come in a two-wheeler, hurled the bomb at the parking lot of the Teynampet Police station on the arterial Anna Salai in the city. The miscreants had filled petrol/kerosene in a bottle, lit up a wick attached to it and hurled it on the go. However, no damage was caused. Tension prevailed in the area following the incident. Senior police officials, including Chennai City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan visited the spot and held an inquiry. Forensic experts also visited the spot. It was alleged that the CCTV camera installed in the police station was not working. Police have formed four special teams to nab the culprits. They were also analysing the CCTV footages in the adjacent buildings to identify the miscreants who had hurled the bomb.
