Congress launches campaign for complete loan waiver in Maharashtra


Mumbai: The Congress today launched a complete loan waiver campaign from Buldhana against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis government for the failure to announce complete loan waiver for the farmers. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Ashok Chavan said that the decision was taken in the state Congress committee meeting last evening. The government is misleading the people of the state over the farmers loan waiver, he charged. In the present announcement, merely 15 lakh farmers will be benefitted and a large numbers are not going to get any benefit, so, we have decided to launch a campaign ' Majhi Karj Maffi Zhali Nahi' (my farm loan was not waive off), which is commenced today from Buldhana. 'To bring the truth before the citizen of the state, we have launched this campaign,' he added. He said on June 26, Mr Fadnavis had announced Rs 34,022 crore farm loan waiver, in which he had stated that 89 lakh farmers will get benefit and 7/12 of 40 lakh farmers will be nil. Thereaftrer, he said 7/12 of 36 lakh farmers will be cleared. On GST (Goods and Service Tax) Mr Chavan said the powerloom businessmen of Ichalkaranji and Bhiwandi are facing several problems, leading to their shutdown. Meanwhile, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram will be holding several meetings in the state to debate on GST, he informed.
