9 feared drowned in Vena river near Nagpur

Nagpur: As many as nine people are feared drowned while two managed to escape after their boat capsized in Vena dam in Kalameshwar tehsil of Nagpur district of Maharashtra, a senior police official said here. According to the official, the incident took place last evening when the boat carrying 11 people, including three boatmen, capsized. Only three bodies were recovered till late night, the official said. Six others are yet to be traced, he said. Of 11, eight were from Nagpur city and reportedly in the age group between 20-25. After being alerted about the incident, the Fire Department, local divers and volunteers have been engaged in rescue operation till late night, an official said.
