Fresh landslides cut off Sikkim and Kalimpong from rest of India

Siliguri/Gangtok: A series of fresh landslips on Saturday cut off vital link between strategic Sikkim state and Kalimpong district in West Bengal. The main arterial link NH 10 has been battered with trees and cascading boulders from uphills.

Official sources said the road suffered fresh damage at the 29th Mile near Teesta Bazar. The link of landlocked Sikkim and Kalimpong was restored on Friday morning after the menders from PWD cut off portions of hill and created surface for vehicular traffic. But fresh landslides following rains cut off the link of the eastern Himalayan state with the rest of country.
