Gurugram murder: SC orders framing within six months of comprehensive policy for safety and security of school children

New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Human Resource Development Ministry to frame within six months a comprehensive policy and guidelines for the safety and security of school children across the nation.
The directive came on a Public Interest Litigation filed through his lawyer, Sushil Tekriwal, by Varun Thakur, father of the seven-year-old boy who was allegedly killed in the bathroom of his school in Delhi's neighbouring, Gurugram, last year.
The bench, led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, also ordered the HRD Ministry to draft an inclusive policy to that effect.
The Class 2 student was found with his throat slit inside the school's toilet on the morning of September 8, last year.
