SC dismisses anticipatory bail of Milind in Bhima-Koregaon case


New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by one of the accused, Milind Ekbote, accused of inciting violence in Bhima-Koregaon in the state of Maharashtra.
Ekbote had moved the apex court challenging the Bombay High Court order, which had refused to give him the necessary relief and anticipatory bail for his alleged involvement in the Bhima- Koregaon violence case.
A three-judge bench of the top court, headed by Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur and also comprising Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Deepak Gupta, dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by one of the accused, Ekbote, seeking relief from the top court.
"We dismiss the anticipatory bail application filed by petitioner in the Bhina-Koregaon Violence case," the three-judge bench of the apex court said in its order on Wednesday.
The top court dismissed the petition filed by accused, Ekbote, after keeping in view the status report filed by Maharashtra Government before it.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had granted relief to Ekbote, till Wednesday, 14th of March. But afte his anticipatory bail was rejected on Wednesday by the court.
He could be arrested at any time now, the lawyer appearing for the state of Maharashtra said.
