Yours are only crocodile tears, Govt says as Oppn forces LS adjournment for day over farmers issues

New Delhi: The Government today attacked the main Opposition Congress, accusing it of insincerity towards the farmers' problems when the party along with the Left , the Trinamool Congress and others disrupted Lok Sabha proceedings during Question Hour over the agrarian crisis, which led to the adjournment of the House thrice, last time for the day. As soon as the House assembled met for the day, the Opposition Members were up on their seats, with those from Kerala displaying photocopies of some newspaper reports about out an alleged corruption by a BJP Member, and they along with the Congress and other Opposition Members soon moved to the Well raising slogans ---'Bhrashtachar nahin chalega'( we will not tolerate corruption), 'Pradhan Mantri jawab do '(Prime Minister, Answer to the people) etc. The Opposition protest drew a sharp attack from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar. Mr Kumar said the main Opposition Congress was only shedding 'crocodile tears' over the farmers' issues as its 'so-called' concern for them had been exposed last night when during the discussion on agrarian crisis, all their benches were empty except for just two Members. He said there was no point of disrupting House business when the discussion on the agrarian crisis had already taken place. However, the Opposition members continued sloganeering in the House. The CPI-M Members were holding photocopies of a report published in an English daily today about the BJP lawmaker allegedly taking bribe for getting MCI accreditation to a private medical college in Kerala. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan , after warning the Opposition Members that 'this is not good' announced adjournment of the House till 1130 hrs. When the House reassembled at 1130 hrs, the Opposition parties were back in the Well with their sloganeering. The Speaker carried the business for about 15 minutes during which Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti answered questions related to her Ministry. However, sloganeering in the Well continued, prompting an irritated Speaker to remark, 'this is not the way' and announce adjournment of the House till noon. The post noon session saw no change in the scene as the Opposition were in mood to relent. After the papers of the day were laid, the Speaker announced adjournment of the House for the day.
