MOMA to set out watchdogs to monitor implementation of schemes : Naqvi

New Delhi: The 280 Inspecting Authorities of Maulana Azad Education Foundation(MAEF) will now act as a 'watchdog' for proper implementation of the schemes of the Minority Affairs Ministry. Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said 'we will utilize the services of about 280 Inspecting Authorities of MAEF to keep a close eye on implementation of its various programmes and schemes of Ministry of Minority Affairs.' He said 'These Inspecting Authorities will be acting as 'watchdog' for our welfare schemes' These authorities comprise of retired high-level government officials and people from the field of education. The grant-in-aid to various institutions is given by MAEF upon inspection and the reports submitted by the Inspecting Authorities. The minister inaugurated a workshop today, that was organised to equip the Inspecting Authorities with the knowledge about various schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs and procedure of the financial assistance provided by Ministry to NGOs and other institutions for implementation of the schemes. Mr Naqvi also informed that since the Ministry has completely gone online , the digital system has ensured that the benefits of various schemes reach directly to the society. Ensuring complete transparency the ministry has directly provided the scholarships to the bank accounts of the students and also ensured transparency on developmental schemes and Haj affairs, the minister added. He said 'the digital system has left no space for middlemen ensuring the fruits of development are reaching directly to every needy'. Mr Naqvi said that he has directed the officials of his ministry to reach out to the people at ground level in view of taking stock of the of implementation of various schemes and programmes, as it was more important than announcing new schemes.
