Priyanka criticises UP Govt over decision to stop free admission for SC/ST students in pvt colleges

New Delhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government over its new rules to give scholarship for marginalised communities under which free admissions for SC/ST students in private institutions have been stopped. "Uttar Pradesh government has taken a new decision on the admission of SC/ST students in private collages. Due to this, students will have to pay heavy fees. How will these students who belong to poor families, pay such high fees of these private institutes? Many of them will not able to take admission due to this new rules", Ms Priyanka tweeted in Hindi. Along with the tweet, the Congress general secretary also attached a news report which says that the Uttar Pradesh government has stopped the free admission for SC/ST students in private institutes. According to the report, the new rule will affect at least three lakh students, who are seeking admission in private institutes. In a separate tweet, Ms Priyanka also pointed out the Yogi Adityanath government's decision to implement new rules to give scholarships for SC/ST students. As per the new norms, students will get scholarships only if they secure at least 60 per cent marks.
