Kashmiri students in difficult situation, D Raja writes to Amit Shah

New Delhi, Criticising the Union government over the developments in Jammu and Kashmir related to the revocation of Article 370, Communist Party of India General Secretary D Raja on Tuesday wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah, pointing the difficult conditions faced by students from the state. "Some students from Jammu and Kashmir met me recently. It seems that they are unable to contact their parents and relatives in valley and are worried. Similarly some of them are facing financial difficulties due to curfew and restriction imposed in valley", Mr Raja wrote in the letter. He also said that some of the students are being threatened and they feel insecure. "Their democratic rights to express their views should also be protected", he demanded. Referring to the incident when he was detained at Srinagar airport, along with CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, and denied permission to enter the valley, Mr Raja also said it was against their democratic rights and strongly protested the infringement of their rights. "We hope that the Union government will do the needful help to Kashmiri students in distress and provide them adequate protection", Mr Raja added.
