Cong walks out from RS to protest BJP role in Karnataka & Goa crisis

New Delhi: The Congress lawmakers on Thursday staged a walkout in the Rajya Sabha to protest the role of the BJP in the political crisis in Karnataka and Goa . Soon after the the House assembled at 1100 hrs, the Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu asked Shiv Sena member Anil Desai to complete his speech on the Union Budget. Congress deputy leader in the House Anand Sharma said there were conspiracies being hatched to de- establise the elected Government in Karnataka and to engineer defection in Congress in Goa which is an assault to the democracy. Mr Sharma and other Congress Members were agitated and walked out from the House in protest.

On this , Union Minister Prakash Jawrekar said that the BJP is not responsible for the Karnataka and Goa crisis. " Since, there here is no President in the Congress and they should introspect for their problems", Mr Jawrekar said. RJD lawmaker Manoj Jha also accompanied Congress Members in walk out. The Mr Naidu intervened and said that when it was pre-decided that on Thursday, the discussion on the Budget will be taken up on Thursday, why these Members were protesting. " It is my duty to ask the Members to go back to their seats but how can I ask someone not to go in other party?, this is not my job and I request you all not to raise this issue in the House", Mr Naidu said. Later Mr Desai completed his speech and CPM Member D Raja began his speech on the Union Budget.
