Pak High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood welcomes hockey team in India

New Delhi: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood on Sunday welcomed the Pakistani hockey team visiting India for the Hockey World Cup. "Pakistan's High Commissioner extended a warm welcome to members of the Pakistan Hockey contingent, visiting India for the 2018 Hockey World Cup. The High Commissioner, senior officials of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, and Representatives of Hockey India were present at the Indira Gandhi International Airport during the team's transit on its way to Bhubaneswar," a statement from the High Commission said here.

The team entered India through the Wagah-Attari border. The team manager Hasan Sardar and Captain Muhamad Rizwan thanked the High Commissioner and other senior officials for their support. The Pakistani team will play its pool matches against Germany on December 1, Malaysia on December 5, and the Netherlands on December 9, the statement said. Pakistan along with heavyweights Germany, Netherlands and Malaysia are looking for tough matches right from the start in their group.
