BJP eyes 21 seats in North East, set to replace few Assam MPs

New Delhi, Encouraged by political developments in two Christian dominated North Eastern states Mizoram and Meghalaya, the BJP is now eyeing at least 21-22 Lok Sabha seats from the region for itself and it's allies. In Meghalaya, former Chief Minister and 84-year old DD Lapang quit Congress ventilating his anguish against high command while in Mizoram state Home and Power Minister Lalzirliana also resigned and is reportedly moving closer to MNF of Zoramthanga, a friend of BJP. "Developments in Mizoram and Meghalaya are encouraging as this shows the mounting troubles for Congress. In February 2018, Congress faced serious desertion in Nagaland.
