Vijayawada, CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat alleged that the wrong policies of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre resulted in steep hike of petrol and diesel prices in the country and made it clear that efforts are being made to form a 'political alternative'. Addressing meet-the-press programme, organised by the APUWJ here on Saturday, she ridiculed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be 'congratulated' for achieving unprecedented hike of the prices of petroleum products. She said that the Centre has imposed excessive excise duty and collected Rs.1.78 lakh crore during the year 2015-16 on the petroleum products sales.
Describing the Central government as a 'joint venture' of BJP and RSS, she slammed the economic policies of the Centre which have translated to burden and while the GST and demonetization had come as a double blow to the common man, and added that to save India, Mr Modi should be removed as Prime Minister. She alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is also following the same economic policies, which the BJP-led NDA government is following. "The Left parties together, along with like minded parties will work with the Jana Sena Party floated by actor-turned politician Pawan Kalyan in the state which is against the Modi led NDA government and Chandrababu Naidu led state government.
She said that the Jana Sena party has emerged as 'pro-people' party. Answering a question, she made it clear that the CPI(M) would not align with any political party in Telangana state which is going to Assembly Poll soon. Ms Karat, however, made it clear that the CPI(M) Central Committee meeting would be held in October and a final decision would be taken after discussing the issue. She is here to address a public meeting of the party this evening. APUWJ Vice-President K Jayaraj and Press Club President N Chalapathi Rao were present.
