No restrictions on Chief Ministers and state ministers visiting China, says Govt

New Delhi, There are "no restrictions" on the travel of Chief Ministers and Ministers of state governments visiting China, the Central Government has said and clarified that number of opposition leaders including junior ministers of states too have visited that country for official works. According to official sources here on Friday, among others Bihar Minister of Water Resources Rajiv Ranjan Singh has also visited China in April this year. Among the Chief Ministers the likes of K Chandrasekhar Rao (Telangana) and his counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) have visited the state from time to time.

The BJP chief ministers who visited China include the likes of Anandiben Patel (Gujarat - in May 2015), Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra in 2015), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana in January 2016), Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh in April 2016) and Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh in June 2016). The "disclosures" from the central government sources - in multiple ministries including Ministry of External Affairs - come after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had tried to slam the Narendra Modi government for allegedly disallowing her visit to China.
