Tourists resort Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Kufri & Narkanda under white snow blankets again

Shimla: Prominent Tourist Resort of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Manali Dalhousie, Kufri, Narkanda, Chail, Mashobra and Kalpa were covered under white snow blankets once again bringing cheers on the face of those associated with the hospitality industry and farmers in the state. As the people came out of their homes in the morning they found their surroundings under a thick blanket of white sheet after overnight inclement weather and snowing. Tourist resort Dalhousie got 30 cm((7.8 mm rain) snowfall, Manali 23 cm(along with 6 mm rain Narkanda 10 cm, Keylong nine cm, Kalpa in Kinnuar, Kufri eight cm, Shimla and Mashobra 3.5 cm each, Chail in Solan and Saluni in Chamba 2.5 cm. High reaches of Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul Spit, Kangra , Chamba, Kinnuar and Shrmaur got light to moderate snowfall disrupting normal life in the high season . Pooh, Chitkul, Sangal and Karchhum in Kinnuar, Kharahpather, Khiriki, Chanshal pass also got 15 cm to 30 cm fresh snowfall. Vehicular traffic was disrupted on Hindustan- Tibet National Highway between Shimla and Narkanda and between Shimla and Rohru and Chopal after mounting of snow on the road .

Vehicular traffic was diverted via Basantpur to Rampur and Kinnuar district. Vehicles are skidding at tourist resort Kufri ,meanwhile, Narkanda is snowbound, Many buses services had to be suspended following mounting of snow in the high line areas of Shimla district. However , the fresh snowfall brought cheers on the faces of farmers, hoteliers and apple growers who were awaiting this for the last two weeks. Downstream areas also recorded light to moderate rainfall, Seobagh and Bhuntar in Kullu had 25 and 21 mm rain, Sundernagar in Mandi 10.8 mm, Palampur and Dharmshala in Kangar seven mm each, Jubberhati airport in Shimla six mm, Kangra 5.8 mm, Solan and Mandi four mm each, Hamirpur, Berthin, Chamba three mm each and Rohru and Dharmpur two mm each and Una 1.6 mm respectively. Inclement weather condition is expected to continue in the state as the entire state is under the grip of coldwave ,however, barring some snow covered roads which are affecting road communication other services are normal in the state. Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was recorded coldest with minimum temperature at minus 11 degrees, Kalpa minus 4.3 degrees, Kufri minus 3.4 degrees, Dalhousie minus 1.7 degrees, Manali minus 1.6 degrees and Shimla 0.2 degrees, Dharmshala 2.2 degrees adn Bhuntar 2.6 degrees. Sola4.2 degrees, Una 4.3 degrees , Mandi 4.8 degrees, Sundernagar 5.2 degrees Chamba 5.3 degrees Nahan 5.5 degrees, Bilaspur 7.7 degrees and Hamirpur eight degrees respectively. The Met office forecast rain or snowfall in many parts of the state in the next 24 hrs .
