Nepal: Deuba resigns as PM, Prez invites Oli to form govt

Kathmandu, : After the incumbent Sher Bahadur Deuba resigned as Prime Minister, Nepal President Vidya Devi Bhandari has invited CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli to form a new government. The move comes after Oli staked the claim to form a new government on Thursday.
According to media reports, in his televised address to the nation Deuba said that he is submitting his resignation to pave the way for the formation of a new government as per the people's mandate in recent elections.
The Left Alliance of CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) registered a victory in the historic parliament and first ever provincial assembly election held on November 26 and December 7, 2017.
In 275 member House of Representatives, the lower house of parliament, Left Alliance secured an almost two-thirds majority by winning 174 seats. The ruling Nepali Congress got just 63 seats.
