Death toll in Philippines landslides and floods rises to 85

Manila, At least 85 people have been killed so far in landslides and floods which were triggered by heavy rains in Phillipines, while 16 people are still missing, local media reported on Wednesday. The deaths were mostly due to landslides and drowning in the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas in central Philippines, according to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its latest report. The Manila Times daily newspaper specified that 69 people had been killed in the region of Bicol, while 13 fatalities had been registered in the Eastern Visayas region, and three more deaths had been reported in other regions hit by the downpours and landslides.
