Versatile singer Kishore Kumar remembered on his birth anniversary

Kolkata, Versatile singer-lyricist-composer-director-scriptwriter-producer-actor Kishore Kumar would have celebrated his 90th birthday, had he been alive and the film fraternity believes the singer-actor would have been a hit with audiences even today. The legendary singer was born on this day in1929 at Khandwa(MP), grew up in a cultural scenario. Gradually he developed his skills in acting, music and many more and became a multifaceted genius on his own right. Be it romantic, sad, upbeat what ever the genre of songs Kishore is still unparallel. There is little nostalgia for the playback singers of the Sixties, but Kishore Kumar remains as popular today as he was during the Seventies. Going by statistics received from RJ Arvind of 94.3 FM, Kishore Kumar's popularity does not indicate any decline. He gets requests for over 100 every day. To mark the birth anniversary of the legendary singer, who made people laugh and cry with equal ease, he was the one voice that gave musical meaning to every human emotion. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remembered the legend Kishore Kumar on the occasion. "Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana... Ms Banerjee posted on her social networking page. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan in his tweet said: "4th Aug -Kishore Kumar's Birth Anniversary… sang in more than 51 films , 130 songs, in more than 60 films that i acted in. 3 (out of 8) Best Male Playback Singer awards were songs he sang for me !" Red Chillies Entertainment‏ in a tweet said, "Dear #KishoreKumar, thank you for leaving behind a cherishable legacy. Let's remember this singing legend through a few of his many songs: #HappyBirthdayKishoreDa." Editor-In-Chief and Chairman, India TV Rajat Sharma tweeted: "Remembering the most versatile and popular playback singer of Indian subcontinent, the one and only #KishoreKumar . His songs continue to enthrall several generations of Indians. May his soul rest in eternal peace." Former West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra in his tweet said: "There is no voice like you existing in any form anywhere in the world. Duniya ke shor mein ek hi Kishore hai! Sincere tribute on the versatile legend's birth anniversary!! #KishoreKumar #birthday." While the different FM channels went on a daylong broadcasting special programmes to commemorate the birth anniversary, playing his timeless hits from an illustrious repertoire. The TV channels aired out special shows revolving around the late iconic singer's soul-stirring renditions, bites from his close family, friends, relatives and legions of ever-increasing fans.
