New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Saturday paid floral tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary.
The duo paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar in a programme organised here at the Assembly premises.
Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, AAP MLAs and others were also present on this occasion.
Earlier, taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister said, "Best wishes on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar."
BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition of the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said Dr Ambedkar's contribution in nation building has been 'unparalleled."
"On Ambedkar Jayanti, I bow down to the revered soul, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. His contribution in nation building has been unparalleled. The path he showed of an equal society and an empowered nation continues to inspire us to achieve India of his dreams," Mr Gupta said.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Mayor Preety Agarwal also paid floral tributes to the architect of the constitution of India by garlanding his statute at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Bhawan at 26, Alipur Road.
On this occasion, Ms Agarwal said Dr Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination and worked for the downtrodden people.
She said his contribution for uplift and empowerment of socially weaker sections will continue to inspire the country.
