Fire at garment factory unit in Delhi, 35-yr old dies of suffocation

New Delhi, A 35-year-old man died of suffocation due to smoke that was caused after a fire broke out at a small garment manufacturing unit in Tank road area of Delhi's Karol Bagh in the early hours on Saturday.
According to Delhi Fire Service official, a call regarding fire at the denim factory at Tank Road was received around 0450 hours, following which five fire tenders were pushed into action.
The fire that is said to be triggered near the staircase area in the unit spread to the first floor, but was brought under control in under 30 minutes. However, Jumman the 35 year old whose body was recovered from the second floor of the building, was reportedly sleeping and suffocated to death as the smoke from the fire elevated quickly to the second floor, as per the fire official. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
