SSB seizes 5 tokay gecko, 1 held


New Delhi, The Sashastra Seema Bal has apprehend a person along with tokay gecko (endangered species of reptile) from West Bengal.
"SSB's 17th Bn Falakata, West Bengal seized five tokay gecko in a joint operation with personnel of South Raidhak Forest Range yesterday at 1800 hours and also apprehended Tiken Barman," the Central Armed security force said here today.
The apprehended person and seized items were handed over to South Raidhak Forest Range, it stated.
Tokay gecko is a rare and endangered species of reptile, it has a great demand in the international market.
It is caught and trafficked from north-eastern Indian states to Southeast Asian countries.
