LG reviews landscaping plans of Vasant Udyan Park of DDA

New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal today visited the Vasant Udyan Park of DDA and took an on-site review of the proposed landscaping and remodeling plans of the Park. During the visit, Mr Baijal asked the officials for consulting the experts in the field to spruce up the area around the Tughlaq-era monument, Bara Lao Ka Gumbad that is located in the Vasant Udyan complex so as to attract more visitors. The officials apprised the LG that boundary wall of the park has been proposed with a new design which is in sync with the Tughlaq era and would be constructed in due course. Mr Baijal was informed that the Forest Department has given clearance to the landscape proposal of the area. The LG also instructed the officials that the sewage pumping stations (SPS) should be made operational at the earliest and DDA and DJB should coordinate regarding the work of the peripheral pipelines and other amenities. He further advised DDA to explore the possibility of treatment of the sewage flowing in the drain through the site by bio-remedial measures for improving the quality of water so that it can be used as a water feature in the park. Mr Baijal has instructed the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to strictly adhere to the deadline of providing toilets and stressed that action be taken to prevent further encroachments in the park. He also issued directions to the concerned agencies for time-bound implementation of the various work components so as to finish the entire project by January, 2018. Vice-Chairman of DDA, CEO of DUSIB, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and others were also present during the LG's visit.
