Cold morning with smog in Delhi, air quality very poor again

New Delhi: The National capital on Thursday woke up to a cold morning along with with smog over the city skies, while minimum temperature settled at 10.5 degrees C , three points below season's average here. Overlooking COurt orders , people across the city indulged in bursting firecrackers, although less compared to previous years, which led to increase in the index value as the air again turned 'very poor' on Thursday with AQI 350 at 1000 hours as per the Central Pollutuon COntrol Board. There was slight improvement on Wednesday in the air quality and index value had come to 277. This increased on Thursday as the smoke from firecrackers mixed with mist and fog in the early hours did not allow easy dispersion of the pollutants. Relative humidity being 86 per cent also added a bit as moisture also effects dispersion of the pollutants. During the day, maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28 degrees C, with haze over the sky likely to be visible. Maximum temperature on Wednesday settled at 27.8 degrees C. a notch below season's average.
