Sensex down by 303 pts


Mumbai: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) heavily down today by 303 points to open at 31,775.54 on profit booking by local operators. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped by 68.85 points to 9,832.70. With yesterday's all-time-high the equity market lost ground today. In sectoral indices Energy, FMCG, Utilities, Metal and Realty dragged the market in early trade. However, Power, Technology, IT and Telecom remained positive that capped from further loss, broker said. The losers were ITC by 11.90 pc to Rs 287, Reliance Industries by 2.20 pc to Rs 1517, Coal India by 0.22 pc to Rs 246.65 and ONGC by 0.09 pc to Rs 159.90. The gainers were Cipla by 1.57 pc to Rs 564.60, Bharti Airtel by 1.53 pc to Rs 414.85, Dr Reddy's Lab by 1.12 pc to Rs 2723.45 and Adian Paints by 1.12 pc to Rs 1138.10.
