Thomas Cook denies forex scam; says follows RBI rules strictly

New Delhi: Days after Rs 15 crore forex scam was unearthed at the Kochi International airport, the Thomas Cook India Ltd has said they strictly followed the rules of the RBI and laws of land. The Thomas Cook also therefore refuted news stories that have appeared with respect to the foreign exchange counter at the airport. "We categorically state that basis a request received from customs representatives at Kochi Airport on April 26, 2019, transactional information for a 2-year period was provided by us within the agreed time frame. Post this submission, no further update or request has been received from concerned authorities till date (over two months post information being provided)," it added. On July 11, a huge forex scam, worth Rs 15 crore, was found to have taken place at the Kochi International Airport. In the scam, it was found that Customs Law and Foreign Exchange Management Act were violated. The RBI has started a probe into the matter.
